Originally by: R'ough I second that, EVE is the most newbie unfriendly game that i've ever come across, it takes a few month to fully adjust to the game mechanism, attitude and player mentality. And of course whether new players could survive that long is none of CCP's business.
Make one thing cleared, you OP are here to be tortured, both physically and mentally, in game as well as out of game.
If you crave for the amount of deceives, lies and betrayals that real world can never fully provide, you're in for a big treat.
If you enjoy being misleaded and ignored by sells persons, you'd love the Customer Service here, any answers from GM forum/petition can take up to weeks, the sweetness of frustration is ever present.
If you're into being humiliated or insulted, all you need to do is be yourself, and post on Crime and Punishment for every aggression, scam, impossible-to-complete mission you've come across. You're gonna wet yourself.
People who 'made it' in EVE are a harsh breed, sympathy and understanding are the rarest if not slightly ridiculous quality among them. Why? well there can be a whole page of psycho analyst on that but usually one word is enough "jaded"
Why would anyone play a game to frustrate themselves you ask? mmm isn't it obvious?
well my boyfriend (and the bf before him) frequently tells me that i'm one of the most understanding and compassionate people he has met in his long time dating ... on my main character i have been a member of several player corporations where i met a lot of friendly understanding people and if i completely didn't fit in with the crowd i wouldn't be playing this game because being a girl the social component of mmorpgs is important for me
for a true EVE player the initial confusion, having to figure all this stuff on his or her own, high death penalty and various other risks, being picked on by older players are all welcome challenges ... why might you ask? because a true EVE player doesn't play the game to get frustrated, he or she plays it to be challenged and thinks that challenges is what makes the game fun, this player doesn't quit the game because tutorial is a few hours long, doesn't go to bed crying over losing a ship it took a week to gather together, learns from own mistakes after getting wtfbbqowned by player pirates, doesn't mind reading and going hunting for the information about EVE to learn from mistakes of others ... and everyone else who feels frustrated by all this is free to try out other games ofc
sadly when you play the game for a while a lot of these challenges disappear in the end i discovered it kinda gets same ol' same ol' just like all other mmorpgs i guess ... it might take you 9 months or 3 years to get there but eventually you reach a certain burnout point ... a lot of players who have stuck with EVE remember their noob days as some of the best times in EVE so enjoy yourself while there are still many things to explore
